DESCRIPTION:Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work Unit \nDESCRIPTION\nEmergency First Aid at Work covers the requirements for all teaching in health and fitness. \nThe Award for Emergency First Aid at Work satisfies the requirements of the regulatory body for First Aid – the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and HSENI (Northern Ireland). \nAll learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt\, safe and effective manner. \nDURATION\nA minimum of six contact hours in the classroom\, consisting of practical and theoretical activities\, plus some pre-course activity could be required.\n\nSYLLABUS\nA range of subjects is covered including:\n• What is Emergency First Aid?\n• Legislation\n• Action in an emergency\n• Primary survey\n• The respiratory system\n• Resuscitation\n• Adult basic life support\n• Foreign objects\n• Minor burns and scalds\n• Epilepsy \nCERTIFICATION \n• Responsibilities\n• Secondary assessment\n• Disorders of respiration\n• Disorders of the circulation\n• Wounds and bleeding \nAssessment is ongoing by the instructor\, along with a multiple choice question paper\, and a three year qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria. \nNUMBERS\nA maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.
